Who qualifies for free prescription delivery

Broadly, the service is available to any regular patient of Brookfield Pharmacy — meaning you've nominated us for your electronic prescriptions or you use us regularly for repeats. Beyond that, there's no gatekeeping. We prioritise:

• Housebound patients or anyone with a medical reason they can't easily leave the house
• Elderly patients who find frequent trips difficult
• Patients on multiple regular medications — the ones for whom missing a prescription has real consequences
• Working patients whose hours don't fit around ours easily
• Parents of young children or people caring for family members
• Anyone on a repeat schedule who'd rather it just arrived

How the delivery service actually works

The typical flow, once you're set up:

1. Your prescription arrives with us — automatically via the Electronic Prescription Service if you've nominated Brookfield Pharmacy.
2. We dispense and check it — usually same-day for routine items.
3. It's added to the next delivery round for your area — we run scheduled rounds through the week to different neighbourhoods.
4. We deliver to your door — the driver knocks, hands over the bag, and leaves. If you're out, we'll leave a card and try again on the next round or arrange a re-attempt.
5. You take the medicine as normal — no signature needed for most items.

Typical timescale from GP signing the prescription to arriving at your door: 1–3 working days for routine items, faster if it's urgent and we can slot it into a round the same day.

Controlled drugs and delivery

Some medicines have extra rules — controlled drugs (opioid painkillers, some ADHD medicines, some sleep medicines) require identity confirmation on delivery, and the recipient's signature. We can still deliver these, but:

• We need to know they're expected so we can plan the driver's route accordingly
• The person receiving must be able to sign
• We can't leave them with a neighbour or in a "safe place" for controlled drugs

Everything else can generally be handed over without ceremony.

What if I need something urgent?

The free service runs on scheduled rounds — great for planned repeats, less good for "I need this in the next hour." For genuinely urgent needs:
